Opening its inaugural exhibition at the Kasturbhai Lalbhai Museum, Ahmedabad’s highly anticipated Arvind Indigo Museum promises to tell the incredible story of indigo — a natural dye which holds a special place in India’s history. Titled ALCHEMY, this show features works by contemporary artists and artists who have been invited to experiment with indigo in new and innovative ways. This includes established names like Alwar Balasubramaniam, Manisha Parekh, Nalini Malani, Amit Ambalal, Sheetal Ghattani, as well as exciting young talent like Manish Nai, Tanya Goel, Sachin Tekade, Nibha Sikander, Bhagyashree Suthar, Meesha Holley and Vyom Mehta. A fantastic line up of international artists have also been invited to exhibit, with works on display by Shola Carletti, Aboubakar Fofana, Christian Achenbach and Victoria Andrejeva. An expansive, dedicated space is set to follow later this year which will become the collection’s permanent home.
