Forum Project | Temple City

January 31-February 3, 2019 11:00 am — 6:00 pm

India Art Fair Grounds

Satyabhama Majhi’s sculpture, made of metal and fabric, is inspired by the phrase “temple city”. Taking the idea of the somewhat contradictory coexistence of these two words — “temple” and “city” — Majhi compares their architectural, personal and political  significance in relation to concerns about urbanisation and migration. The Old Town of Bhubaneswar was the springboard for this project, and Mahji’s sculpture provides a new lens for looking at the histories and narratives of the city. This work will be showcased at India Art Fair 2019 by the Bhubaneswar Art Trail.
