Thomas Girst, Head of Cultural Engagement at the BMW Group, introduces David Hockney’s stunning 1995 BMW Art Car with Edith Devaney, Curator at the Royal Academy, London.

Thomas Girst is the Global Head of Cultural Engagement at the BMW Group and was recently honoured with the European Cultural Manager of the Year Award in  2016. Thomas is a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and lecturer at the Faculty of History and the Arts in Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich. Girst has published widely within international art publications, including those of Tate Modern, Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Museum of Design, Frieze, Sotheby’s etc. 

Edith Devaney is a Curator at the RA in London, where she has organised two globally renowned exhibitions on David Hockney — one on his landscape works called A Bigger Picture in 2012 and 82 Portraits and One Still-Life in 2016. She is also a close personal friend of the artist.
