Presented in collaboration with Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum and The Alkazi Foundation for the Arts, and in partnership with Exhibit 320, Art Heritage‘s latest exhibition presents rare reproductions from the archive of the Jaipur’s iconic City Palace Museum, revealing Maharaja Sawai Ram Singh II’s early engagement with photography as India’s first known photographer-king. Showing a repertoire of portraiture and urban documentation from the 1860s and 70s, the show will explore a self-reflective persona through visual citations from the practitioner’s oeuvre as well as be punctuated by re-composed ‘vintage’ works by a leading Jaipur-born contemporary artist, Nandan Ghiya.
