Kadari Art Gallery is inviting job applications for the posts of:
- Assistant Curator and
- Gallery Intern (a fresher role)
The ASSISTANT CURATOR will play a key role in supporting the gallery’s curatorial vision. This position involves working closely with artists, supporting the planning and execution of exhibitions and events, handling communications and outreach, and maintaining a meticulous inventory of artworks. The ideal candidate is dynamic, organized, articulate, and passionate about contemporary art and culture.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Artist Relationships & Liaison
Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with artists represented and exhibited by the gallery.
Serve as the primary point of contact for artist logistics — including production timelines, shipping, installation, and de-installation of works.
Assist in coordinating artist studio visits, residencies, and collaborative projects.
Ensure clear communication between artists, the curatorial team, and other stakeholders.
2. Curatorial Programming Support
Assist in conceptualizing and developing exhibition proposals, thematic programming, and related research.
Support the planning and execution of exhibitions, talks, screenings, and other public programs.
Draft exhibition texts, wall labels, didactics, and catalogues in collaboration with the curatorial team.
Maintain exhibition calendars and timelines.
3. Outreach & Communications
Coordinate outreach activities to build and engage audiences, including schools, universities, institutions, and cultural networks.
Work with the communications team to develop press releases, newsletters, and social media content aligned with the curatorial vision.
Build relationships with media, press, and partner organizations to enhance visibility of the gallery’s programming.
Support audience development and community-building strategies.
4. Inventory & Artwork Management
Maintain and update the gallery’s artwork inventory, including condition reports, provenance records, and location tracking.
Oversee packing, shipping, insurance, and handling of artworks for exhibitions and loans.
Ensure accurate cataloguing, documentation, and digital archiving of all artworks.
Liaise with artists and collectors regarding loans, consignments, and returns.
5. Administrative & Logistical Support
Provide curatorial and logistical support during exhibition installations and events.
Coordinate schedules, contracts, and travel arrangements for artists and guest curators.
Support budgeting, procurement, and vendor management for exhibitions and programs.
Maintain internal communication and documentation systems to ensure smooth workflow.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Art History, Curatorial Studies, Visual Arts, Cultural Studies, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of relevant experience in a gallery, museum, or arts organization.
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills (English proficiency required; Telugu or Hindi an advantage).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with contemporary art practices in India and internationally.
- Proficiency in basic design and office software; experience with art inventory software or databases preferred.
- Collaborative, flexible, and proactive approach to teamwork.
The GALLERY INTERN position is open to fresh graduates or candidates with up to 1 year of experience
