Job Description: Gallery Manager – Delhi Location

Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Gallery Manager to oversee the operations of our new art gallery in Delhi. This individual will play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day management of the gallery, coordinating with artists, engaging with visitors and collectors, managing logistical and inventory-related tasks, and liaising with vendors and contractors. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the arts, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to build relationships within the art community.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Operations & Day-to-Day Management:
    • Oversee daily operations of the gallery, ensuring it runs efficiently and professionally.
    • Maintain a welcoming, well-organized, and visually appealing gallery space.
    • Implement policies and procedures for smooth functioning.
  2. Logistics & Inventory Management:
    • Manage the transportation, installation, and safe handling of artworks for exhibitions and sales.
    • Maintain a detailed and accurate inventory of artworks, ensuring proper documentation and tracking.
    • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors for gallery requirements.
  3. Vendor Coordination:
    • Liaise with painters, carpenters, electricians, and other contractors for maintenance, repairs, and installations.
    • Oversee the timely execution of tasks such as wall painting, gallery refurbishments, lighting installations, and display setups.
    • Ensure quality work and negotiate cost-effective solutions with vendors while meeting deadlines.
  4. Artist Coordination:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with artists, ensuring seamless communication for exhibitions, consignments, and events.
    • Assist in planning and organizing exhibitions, including conceptualization, scheduling, and execution.
  5. Visitor & Buyer Engagement:
    • Act as the primary point of contact for visitors, buyers, and collectors, ensuring a warm and professional experience.
    • Provide detailed information about exhibitions, artists, and artworks, tailoring the experience to individual interests.
    • Handle inquiries, facilitate sales, and manage post-sale processes such as delivery and documentation.
  6. Event Planning & Execution:
    • Organize gallery openings, artist talks, and private viewings to promote exhibitions and drive engagement.
    • Coordinate with marketing teams to ensure effective promotion of events and exhibitions.
  7. Team Management:
    • Supervise and guide gallery assistants, interns, and any other staff to ensure consistent service and operations.
    • Provide training and support to build a knowledgeable and motivated team.
  8. Community & Collector Relationships:
    • Build and nurture relationships with art collectors, patrons, and the local art community to drive interest and sales.
    • Attend networking events and art fairs to represent the gallery and cultivate partnerships.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Art Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in gallery management, art curation, or a similar role.
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with artists, clients, vendors, and staff.
  • Proficiency in inventory management software and basic office tools.
  • Experience working with contractors such as painters, carpenters, and electricians.
  • Knowledge of the art industry and a passion for visual arts is essential.
