Auditorium, India Art Fair Grounds

Gallery Directors Prateek Raja and Tunty Chauhan discuss the life and works of artists Krishna Reddy and Priya Ravish Mehra who passed away this year.

Prateek Raja co-launched Experimenter with his wife Priyanka in 2009 in Kolkata. With an ambitious and challenging multidisciplinary approach, Experimenter is an incubator for contemporary artists, showcasing interactive installations, multiple channel work, live projects and political interventions. Experimenter also hosts the annual Experimenter Curators’ Hub and publishes artist’s books and book objects. In 2018 Experimenter launched its second space in Kolkata, Experimenter Ballygunge Place, as well as the Experimenter Learning Program (ELP), a long-term and sustainable arts education program.

Tunty Chauhan founded Threshold Art Gallery in 1997 in New Delhi. Chauhan had an early exposure to art, craft and textiles through her mother. She began as a collector and as her passion for art deepened and friendships with artists grew, she began her career as a gallerist. Her first few exhibitions were of crafts and indigenous artists, and her earliest curatorial ventures included Paradigms I and II, which drew acclaim for curatorial sensitivity. Other important exhibitions followed, such as  Mapping Memories, and more recently Revisiting Beauty.  Chauhan’s journey with Threshold, spanning two decades, has led her to bring forth some hidden gems like V. Ramesh, Achia Anzi, Vipul Kumar, Priya Ravish Mehra and Anindita Bhattacharya.
