Rabeya Jalil’s show Between Meaning and Making, is a crossover between representation and abstraction; between paint as a subject, paint as a symbol of an object and paint as a medium to understand memory. Using intuition, chance and repetition as strategies for production, she reflects on the subliminal, latent structures that determine hand gestures while making marks on a two-dimensional surface; playing with pigment, mixing and layering color, making mistakes, anticipating damage.
