Bheeshma Sharma’s practice has consistently maintained interest in human-made and industrial disasters of the modern world. During the pandemic-related lockdown in 2021, Sharma travelled to the village of Umrah in Varanasi with his Grandfather and spent several weeks there. During this time, he interacted with the farmers in the village and observed the precarious state of the agricultural industry cause by anthropogenic ecological crises. The works in this show are digitally manipulated and enhanced photographs of the village landscape that highlight the effects of climate change, overproduction and deforestation. The prints show village landscapes are wrapped in smog.
