Creativity Hour: Madhubani Painting Workshop

December 11, 2021 4:00 pm

Online

India Art Fair in collaboration with Etsy India presents its second ‘Creativity Hour’ workshop — on Madhubani painting. The workshop will be led by Madhubani artists, sisters and Etsy makers of Madhubani Motifs, Chetna and Shishu Suman. They’ll share their knowledge and skills to help participants create their very own Madhubani works.

As an introduction to this rich Indian artform, Chetna and Shishu Suman will teach participants how to decorate a wooden coaster with Madhubani style painting. We invite all, regardless of prior experience with the paint brush, to join us for this exciting session. For the workshop, participants will need only a few easily-available materials:

  • 4″x 4″ wooden coaster or 300 gsm white paper
  • White Gesso or White Acrylic paint (only required if using wooden coaster)
  • Acrylic colours: Black, Crimson, Golden Yellow, Sap Green, Orange, Prussian Blue (Fevicryl/Camel)
  • Acrylic round brushes: 00, 01 & 04
  • Pencil, Eraser, Scale, a bowl for water, tissue paper
  • Extra paper for practice
  • Clear varnish (optional)
  • Hair dryer (optional)

Note: Feel free to prime your wooden coaster with white gesso or white acrylic paint in advance of the workshop.
