India Art Fair in collaboration with Etsy India presents the ‘Creativity Hour’ — a series of exciting workshops that will give you a chance to interact with creators, working with traditional arts and crafts. We kick off the series with a workshop on ‘mask embroidery’ with Alifiya Husain, of Etsy shop The White Tree designs, a textile designer with an emphasis on traditional embroidery.
In the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to meet and learn the essentials of embroidery directly from Alifiya. At this workshop, they will have the option of embroidering a design of their choice on a cotton face mask.
One of the most accessible creative mediums, embroidery and threadwork present endless possibilities to its makers, and we invite all to join us for this session. For the workshop, participants will need only a few easily-available materials:
- Soft cotton mask of your choice
- Scissors
- Needle
- Thread
- Pins
- Embroidery hoop
- Anchor threads in colours of your choice
- Pencil
- Tracing sheet
- Carbon paper
To register for this complimentary workshop, please fill in this Google Form. Limited spots available and the event will be capped at 40 people. This will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.
The White Tree, rooted in a ‘Back-to-Basics’ philosophy with an emphasis on natural motifs and hand-stitching techniques, is a textile design studio on Etsy India. This workshop with Etsy India is presented as part of its commitment to highlight the artists behind the lesser-known Indian artforms on its platform.
