Cartooning, unlike the majority of its intended audience, is no child’s play. Delhi-based visual artist Gagan Singh, known for his illustrations, storytelling, memory mapping and site specific installations, will conduct a drawing workshop to aid participants–who are requested to bring their sketchbooks to share their work–with sketching, using the fair as a live study for participants to draw and sketch. Gagan himself will also draw and put up cut-outs of his cartoons in different corners, common spaces and aisles at the fair.
Gagan Singh is an artist based in New Delhi. His main preoccupation is in exploring ways of thinking through Drawing. He completed his Masters in Fine Arts from the Kent Institute of Art & Design in 2005 (Kent, UK), had his second solo exhibition at Chatterjee & Lal this September (Bombay, India), and is currently an artist in residence at Rote Fabrik (Zurich, Switzerland).
