India Art Fair’s first-ever Digital Artists in Residence, Mira Felicia Malhotra, Gaurav Ogale and Varun Desai, delve into the intersection of art, technology and storytelling in a conversation moderated by digital art enthusiast and curator Veeranganakumari Solanki. Varun Desai: Varun Desai is an artist, creative coder and synthesist. He collaborates globally and produces work under monikers 5volts, Yidam and Varundo — including viral 3D depth-map photo manipulations, NFTs, and GIFs.
Mira Felicia Malhotra: Mira Felicia Malhotra, known as Kohla, is an artist and designer who creates playful character illustrations imbued with pop culture and feminist themes. Her work is heavily influenced by DIY subcultures and alternative music.
Gaurav Ogale: Writer and visual chronicler, Gaurav Ogale, loves telling stories through audiovisual narratives. His recent work has focused on how contemporary aesthetics find their roots in personal, lived histories.
Veeranganakumari Solanki: Veeranganakumari Solanki is an independent curator and writer based in India. She is interested in the way interdisciplinary forms and creative practices merge to create dialogues in public and private spaces and the convergence of images across disciplines. Veerangana is also the Programme Director at Space Studio, Baroda and teaches the Curatorial Practice MFA course at Kathmandu University.
Titled ‘Align & Disrupt’, the talks programme curated by independent curator and educator Shaleen Wadhwana, and supported by Shiv Nadar – Institution Of Eminence, aims to align voices of leading artists and arts professionals on critical issues in the arts ecosystem, and collectively disrupt the status quo to shape a more aware and inclusive art world of the future. For the first time, the key learnings and insights from these talks will be documented in an action-plan which will be widely circulated and made accessible to the public on the India Art Fair website. All talks will be conducted in Indian Sign Language.
