The artist will evoke the joy of childhood in this performance, enacting the role of a boy playing a make-believe wedding with another boy. The performance will start from the entrance of the fair and conclude at The Studio which will be transformed into a wedding stage or mandap by the artist, with his whimsical soft sculptures as decorations and props.
Gurjeet Singh was born in 1994 in Kothi, Punjab and is a textile artist and is interested in telling stories of typically marginalised voices through soft sculpture. Introduced to art through his family and domestic activities such as stitching, embroidering and machine repair, he developed an early interest in the joy of creation. In his practice, Gurjeet takes an improvisational approach to art, letting his materials guide him in story-telling as much as the people he meets and interacts with. Gurjeet was a recipient of the Inlaks Fine Art Award in 2021. Gurjeet currently lives and works in Chandigarh.
