COMO Museum of Art in Lahore is exhibiting the work of Rasheed Araeen in the exhibition, Islam and Modernism: Past to Present.
Alongside new paintings and sculptures, historical pieces are on display, plotting Araeen’s move from figuration to abstraction, and his recent focus on the concept of ‘Islamic’ art. The paintings exhibited in Lahore are part of a new body of works in which the artist has merged two artistic trajectories: a new engagement with geometry as an ‘Islamic’ as well as a universal form, and his longstanding affiliation with minimalism.
