Gallery Maskara presents ‘Landscape of Confronted Abstraction’ a performance-based exhibition that spans 11 years of artistic exploration, featuring five recent sculptures and 20 photographs from 2013 to 2024. His work meticulously bridges the relationship between the artist, object, and space. Each piece reflects his long-standing practice of revisiting sites, capturing their essence over time and changing seasons. These locations inspire his sculptures, made from natural and found materials, which act as extensions of his body and blend seamlessly into their environments.
Unlike conventional performances, Das’ approach is rooted in stillness. His performances are quiet meditations where the artist, sculpture, and environment appear symbiotically connected, often without a staged audience. In the resulting images, the artist is partially concealed, with his face shrouded within his sculptures, reinforcing the subtlety of his presence. Through this exhibition, Das prompts viewers to reconsider their interactions with public spaces and architecture, inviting contemplation on how we navigate the shifting landscapes of modern life.
