Kalakriti Gallery’s Kalakriti Archives, one of India’s largest private repositories of historic maps, and architect and origami artist Ankon Mitra presents ‘Maps Unfolded‘ – an exhibition which is tries to juxtapose the precision behind the science of origami and cartography. Mitra’s inspiration draws from the natural and universal phenomenon of folding, evident in the very DNA of life, the formation of landscapes, and the movement of oceans. The maps featured in this exhibition include traditional Indian pilgrimage maps, printed bazaar maps, and city maps, each offering a window into the society of a bygone era.
