Threshold Art Gallery presents Nest – a group exhibition of works by Anindita Bhattacharya, Jayashree Chakravarty, Manisha Gera Baswani, Nilima Sheikh, Pandit Khairnar, Pooja Iranna, Rajendar Tiku, Sudhir Patwardhan, Suneet Ghildial and Yashwant Deshmukh.
The terms ‘Nest’ or ‘Nesting’ are primarily attributed to birds, who fulfil this job superbly. Yet these terms have come to be associated symbolically, metaphorically with all creatures, including human beings, who have rightly been obsessed with the idea of the nest — gharonda, baserā, nīḍ, ghar as we refer to it in Hindi. The intent remains the same, they bring similar emotional warmth of an ever welcoming environment, signifying a sense of belonging, security, identity, and comfort, to the solitary and the gregarious alike.
With works picked by Tunty Chauhan and Prayag Shukla, the group exhibition goes deep and explores the very philosophy behind the Nest with all its physical and spiritual variations and tenors.
