Shrine Empire presents নিরবধি / Nirobodhi / Till Time Stands Still, by Sarker Protick. The exhibition features a collection of images studying the permeation of political and personal histories in moments of stillness. The subject matter of the photographs ranges from the aftermath of the 1947 partition of Bengal to the isolation endured by an elderly couple through spatial and temporal stillness. He depicts ruins to represent the material memory of the Partition in images which are derelict, uncanny, dream-like formations reclaimed by the natural world. Sarker’s depictions of complex emotions in everyday scenes are haunting and urgent.
