Jamaat presents a show by fashion designer Vaishali S. and underwater photographs by Alessandro Giuliani titled Rinascimento Janmaantar.
Inspired by a diving holiday to the Maldives and the coral formations she saw there, Vaishali’s garments are made of fine handwoven Chanderi and Maheshwari fabrics , with coral like forms. On a subsequent trip to the Maldives, Alessandro and Vaishali took these very garments, back to their inspirations, 30m deep, and laid it against the corals they had seen. To their amazement, they found that the sea life – fish, anemones, shrimp, even sharks, came to play with these garments. Alessandro took photographs of the garments , corals and sea life , to create a stunning set of these images showing this interplay .
