079 Stories presents a solo show by Radhika Hamlai titled Shifting Terrain, including works in clay, monoprint and painting.
The body of work presented in the show is the result of Hamlai’s explorations and experiments during the difficult lockdown period. The work however does not reflect that sense of despondency rather it is strong and defiant, filled with energy and her approach is quite experimental in nature. Combining research on textile, light, colour, value, movement with understanding of lines and forms, the works are a means of exploring the human psyche, and herself. It is through the exploration of inky lines, charcoal and pastel layers juxtaposed with acrylic bright colours, which engage the viewer on different levels.
