A solo exhibition of Riya Premchand Chandwani’s works, curated by DelhiHouses, delves into her memories and understanding of the partition that profoundly shaped her family’s life and legacy. Her art captures the colossal impact of history divided by faith and politics, embodying the identity of grief that fades with time but lingers in her home and mind. DelhiHouses, an archival project documenting Delhi’s micro-histories through post-colonial homes built after the partition, frames the city’s identity through its people, where no one originates from Delhi, yet everyone belongs. Through Riya’s works, DelhiHouses sheds light on lost homes, material memories, and fading stories in our collective memory. This exhibition runs from January 25 to February 9, 2025, at Futures Gallery, New Delhi.
