Studies In Integrated Facades showcases Seema Nusrat’s work as a Visual Artist that realizes her sensitive observation and expansive research in her multifaceted body of work. Taking a specific approach to the residencies of the city, Nusrat highlights the change in our society’s structure evolving in the direction of self-security and protection born out of the unignorably volatile state of Karachi.
As part of Nusrat’s continued research, she identifies in her Artist Statement, ‘the culture of fortification in Karachi’ referring to the architecture and landscape of the city that is creating an environmental shift as it deploys new objects vividly hinting at politicization, “blending into the design and giving birth to a new language”.
