Treasure Art Gallery presents Tales of Concious Modernism a solo show by Prof. Prabhakar Kolte.
Born in 1946 – a year prior to Independent India, Kolte received his diploma from Sir J.J. School of Arts, Mumbai in 1968. Though strongly influenced by Paul Klee, Kolte was enlightened under the guidance of Prof. Shankar Palsikar. His earlier works depict richly sophisticated textured abstraction. Embraced by several litigious awards and fellowships, his works have been showcased in important solo exhibitions from 1978 – 2018. Prabhakar Kolte’s abstract creates a seminal dialogue between the canvas, the colors, and the audience. Kolte also received the ‘Durga Bhagwat Award’ for his Book ‘From Art to Art’ in 2010. Prabhakar creates an orbit of multi-tonal fantasy that dwells more on the remnants of memory and history and explorations that range across boundaries that belong to the past as well as the present.
