Ojas Gallery presents UNINHIBITED: A Solo Show by Bhajju Shyam.
Bhajju Shyam is a well-recognized indigenous artist of the Gond Pradhan community. He has illustrated multiple books and is recognized for his narrative style.
In 2019, Bhajju became the first Indian indigenous artist to be invited for a residency by the Street Art Foundation (St Art), which resulted in a large outdoor mural at the Lodi Art District in Delhi.
He used spray paints and stencils for the first time, which was a whole new learning curve.
Bhajju continued the experiment of exploring this new medium. He replaced the wall with canvas and paper. The results were fabulous and he continued with the experiments as they developed a language of their own. His animals remained the same, but they looked and felt different; a paradigm shift from his intricate and laborious patterns. He was like a kid in a candy store.
The exhibition showcases works in this new medium, which shows a completely uninhibited side of his art practice.
