Imon Phukan Presented by IAF Artist-in-Residence Programme in partnership with Royal College of Art, London
Presenting a fresh, new series of large-scale works on textile and canvas that explore Imon’s imagined forests where woman, man and animal move fluidly through the landscape. By layering textile, paint and texture, Imon delicately engages with her experiences of migration, identity, her lived environment and ideas of womanhood. Using textile scraps carefully collected from her time in London and her hometown in Assam, the installation draws from her personal reflections, playing with the theme of the forest where not everything is visible or linear but rather is part of a complex, nuanced and layered whole that hides and reveals itself in parts.
