...and the dots connect now: Manisha Gera Baswani

April 2-May 10, 2022

Gallery Espace, 16 Community Centre, New Friends Colony, New Delhi, Delhi, India

Gallery Espace presents a solo exhibition …and the dots connect now, by artist Manisha Gera Baswani bringing together a large and diverse body of paintings and sculptures created over the last decade, which reveal the contemporary Indian artist’s preoccupation with the human body and the healing power of art.

Manisha Gera Baswani is a multidisciplinary artist, weaving expressions comprising painting, photography, sculpture, and poetic writing. The exhibition is the artist’s first solo show after a gap of a decade, with pin-incision drawings on paper constituting the largest segment of the exhibition. The drawings grew out of the artist’s encounters with pain and illness. What began as depictions of organs – the human heart, brain and spinal cord – took on a life of its own over time, as both medium and mode of expression, and became a fully formed visual vocabulary that she deployed with painterly precision to express a variety of themes, imageries and aesthetic concerns.
