National Crafts Museum and Shades Of India present Bukhara: A Journey on the Silk Road, a comprehensive collection of Central Asian textiles.
The 40+ pieces at this exhibition, characterised by their bold, natural colours and striking abstract forms, come from the collection that David and Mandeep Housego have put together over the years. The suzani hangings, the Beshir rugs woven by Turkmen tribes, and the sophisticated ikats worn by the wealthy, draw on the legacy of the Silk Route, reflected beautifully in this collection of mostly 19th century pieces. A must-visit for textile enthusiasts!
