Blueprint 12 presents a solo show, Nafas, featuring works by Arshi Irshad Ahmadzai.
The exhibition explores a series of works created by Ahmadzai during the recent lockdowns when the artist was confined to her apartment in Najibabad, Uttar Pradesh – away from her husband who was in Kabul at the time. The artist’s ‘Nafas’ or ‘Isolation Diaries’ comprise a series of letters that include references from poetry and writings of of Rabia Basri, Jalauddin Rumi Balkhi, Bedil Shanaz, Jaun Elia, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Ghalib, T.S.Elliot, Virginia Woolf, Hermann Hesse, Dostoevsky and Nietzsche. Through her works, the artist engages with questions of marginalised societies, religious isolation, uncertainty of life and political instability.
