Sangeet Shymala and Art Alinda present Pen and Ink Drawings by Jamini Roy, Ganesh Pyne, Somnath Hore and Nikhil Biswas, curated by Jyotirmoy Bhattacharya.
The exhibition is showcasing drawings for 4 modern masters of Indian Art. Jamini Roy was one of the first to prove that art could be one’s livelihood, who boldly ran a gallery from his home, showing once again that he was well ahead of his time. It was a functional gallery, which regularly hosted exhibitions. Nikhil Biswas, Somnath Hore & Ganesh Pyne portrayed human beings of flesh and blood living their lives in the midst of society in their work. The simple flowing lines convey and communicate very easily to the viewer the internal emotions and mentality of the artists.
