Postcards from Home by Manisha Gera Baswani, is a historic documentation of 47 artists from both India and Pakistan, all having a shared connection with the Partition of India in 1947., a connect defined through the unseen scars and relentless drizzle of memories.
This exhibition is an aligned sister series to the artist’s ongoing series, Artist through the Lens, which documents studios of artists and denizens across the arts community of the Indian subcontinent.
Through the 47 visual frames of nostalgia, rekindling love and memory, the artists reminisce a ‘home ‘lost. ‘Postcards from Home’ is also a personal homage to the artist’s parents’ memories of the ‘home’ they left behind as they moved to India, and where her own journey begins.
