Spore Initiative is pleased to present Waral Prakalp, loosely translating to ‘the initiative that stores seeds’, and explores how a community of farmers and cultural producers have jointly developed tools and methods for the guardianship of forests, reforestation and agroforestry, merging traditional methods with more contemporary ones.
The exhibition is the outcome of a collaboration that started over a year ago with a group of Warli Adivasi artists and farmers from Ganjad who lead a reforestation initiative in their village that also includes cultural practice. This includes the traditional Gond method of the tribal Madhya Pradesh community, as developed by artist Roshni Vyam as well as Warli painting from Maharashtra by artists Mayur and Tushar Vayeda.
