Students’ Biennale

Kochi Biennale Foundation is a non-profit charitable trust engaged in promoting art & culture and educational activities in India; primary amongst them the hosting of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, an art exhibition and festival that is the largest of its kind in South Asia. The Foundation was founded in 2010 by artists Bose Krishnamachari and Riyas Komu. It is also engaged in the conservation of heritage properties and monuments and the upliftment of traditional forms of art and culture.

The Students’ Biennale is a part of the Foundation’s educational initiatives and is an exhibition platform that runs parallel to the Kochi-Muziris Biennale. It reaches out to state-funded art colleges across the country, to encourage young artists and practitioners to reflect on their practice and process, and exhibit on an international stage. The initiative uses the potential of a global biennale platform to energize art schools and art production through alternate modes of learning and critique.
