ABOUT OUR CURATOR | SHALEEN WADHWANA
Shaleen Wadhwana [she/her] is an independent arts educator, researcher, and curator. Her practice explores historical and contemporary artistic responses to social justice issues through public programming at museums, universities, fairs, festivals, galleries and heritage sites. Her academic research, showcased through The Unfiltered History Tour at The British Museum, London, won 112 awards locally and globally for India. She is the Curatorial Mentor and co-creator of IMMERSE, an artist & curator residency program, sits on the Asia Acquisition Committee at KADIST, a global non-profit contemporary art organisation and is the MAITRI India Curator for the Indian Ocean Craft Triennial, Australia, 2027.

FAQs
Q: Who is eligible to apply for the Tour Guides Training Programme? Are only Delhi-NCR based candidates eligible for this?
A: We welcome applications from people across age, gender, sexuality, caste, class, religion, and socio-economic positioning. Our preference is for Delhi NCR-based participants because of their ease of participating in the monthly in-person training. In exceptional cases, should the selected participant not be based in Delhi-NCR, we will make it possible for those selected participants to remotely attend the in-person training sessions from October to January.
It is mandatory for all selected participants to be in Delhi by 31st January 2026 for on-site training at the IAF Fair Grounds and cultural institutions across Delhi NCR. All selected participants should be available to work full-time, in-person, and on-site from 1st February 2026 to 8th February 2026.
Q: What are the timings for the programme? Will the online sessions as well as the offline sessions in Delhi – take place during the weekends or weekdays or both?
A: All sessions of online training and the monthly in-person training will be scheduled to try to accommodate office hours and be held on weekends.
Q: How many hours should we expect to dedicate every week?
A: Please expect to devote five hours of research and online training per week for the training programme. In the in-person sessions, please expect to devote your entire day towards research and site visits.
Q: What do you mean by moving 15-20k steps?
A: As an India Art Fair Public Art Tour Guide Trainee, on average you will need to move and cover at least 15k-20k steps a day on the India Art Fair days. By “move”, we mean walking, assisted walking, or with the use of any mobility aid as the Fair Grounds are wheelchair accessible.
Q: Is food/travel/accommodation/a stipend provided in this Training Programme?
A: The Training Programme will not assist nor provide food, travel and accommodation. However, breakfast and lunch will be provided during the on-site Fair days (5th – 8th February 2026).
As a Training Programme with over 50+ hours of combined teaching and practical learning, tailored to each participant’s strength and pace, designed and conducted by the best in the industry, India Art Fair will offer a modest travel stipend to the participant. The stipend amount will be shared with the finalized participants.
Q: Do I need to pay a fee to apply / participate in the Training Programme?
A: This is a unique initiative of the India Art Fair with curator Shaleen Wadhwana to enhance practical-skill based learning for the next generation of arts workers’ in South Asia through live curated feedback and a research-led approach. There is no application fee. Anyone who is selected for this Training Programme does NOT need to pay a fee.
Q: I applied but I was not selected for this Training Programme. Is it possible to get access to any of the modules online?
A: Access to online modules is not available to those who are not selected for this Training Programme, as all training modules designed and conducted by the curator are personalized to each cohort.

क्यूरेटर शालीन वढवाना: संक्षिप्त उल्लेख
शालीन वढवाना भारत में स्थित एक स्वतंत्र, पुरस्कार विजेता कला शिक्षक, शोधकर्ता और क्यूरेटर हैं। संग्रहालयों को उपनिवेशवाद से मुक्त करने पर उनका शोध (The Unfiltered History Tour) वाईस वर्ल्ड न्यूज़ UK के द्वारा ब्रिटिश म्यूजियम में प्रदर्शित हुआ, जिसने कान्स लायन्स फेस्टिवल (फ्रांस) में 12 पुरस्कार जीतकर भारत के लिए इतिहास रचा।

प्र: इस ट्रेनिंग प्रोग्राम के लिए कौन आवेदन कर सकता है? क्या केवल दिल्ली-एन.सी.आर. के उम्मीदवार ही पात्र हैं?
उ: हम आयु, लिंग, जाति, वर्ग, धर्म और सामाजिक-आर्थिक स्थिति की परवाह किए बिना सभी लोगों के आवेदनों का स्वागत करते हैं। मासिक व्यक्तिगत ट्रेनिंग में आसानी से शामिल होने के कारण हम दिल्ली-एन.सी.आर.
