47-A is a gallery for design located in Khotachi Wadi, Girgaum, Mumbai. We trace the lines between craft, art and design and find them increasingly blurred; 47-A delves into all of these and presents shows that are deeply researched and brilliantly curated, through the lens of design.

ROLE: Gallery Manager
Tenure: Full-time, on-site
Location: Mumbai

Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

• Oversee daily gallery operations, ensuring smooth functioning across exhibitions, communication, and visitor engagement.
• Coordinate with artists, collectors, vendors, and partners for exhibitions, events, and logistical requirements.
• Manage exhibition planning, including scheduling, installation support, documentation, and inventory oversight.
• Support sales and client relations by maintaining databases, responding to inquiries, and facilitating artwork viewings.
• Supervise communication efforts, including email outreach, coordination with external teams, and basic social media support.
• Maintain gallery records, catalogues, and administrative files with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Represent the gallery during openings, walkthroughs, and public-facing events.

Requirements:

• Must be based in Mumbai and comfortable working on-site.
• Prior experience in a gallery, museum, or cultural organisation is preferred; dedicated freshers may also apply.
• Bachelor’s degree in art history, visual arts, humanities, or a related field.
• Strong organisational and communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Ability to multitask, take initiative, and work collaboratively within a small, dynamic team.
