Gallery XXL brings urban contemporary art to the forefront and explores processes of curation that open up interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary possibilities. The gallery is a space to engage with Indian and international artists who are critically reinventing urban art techniques. It is in the catalyzation of novel inquiries that emerge from the urban contemporary and post-graffiti phenomena, that the gallery becomes a space-time for a desire that is extra extra large.
Position Overview:
Gallery XXL is looking for a Gallery Associate to be the face of the gallery. As the first point of contact for collectors and enthusiasts, this role plays a pivotal part in representing our artists, managing daily operations, assisting with sales inquiries, and ensuring that every visitor has an insightful and engaging experience.
Eligibility Criteria:
The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of experience in the arts or luxury sector, a strong eye for detail, and the ability to manage multiple aspects of gallery functioning in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
The Gallery Associate will be responsible for:
1. Gallery Management
- End-to-end gallery management including assistance to the curatorial team, research, operational, logistical, communication, and post-sales responsibilities.
- Assistance to the Gallery Director for the launch of the gallery, including setting and streamlining processes, building capacity, and related research and execution.
2. Research
- Research including competition and industry practices, artists, curatorial frameworks, operational systems, and legal aspects.
3. Operations
- Liaison with different team members and departments including finance, leadership, artists, vendors, inventory, planning, contracts, timelines, budget management, and process flows.
- Maintenance and preparation of required contracts with artists and partners.
4. Logistics
- Coordination with vendors, artists, partners, hosts, and shippers.
- Supervision and management of logistics resources, team members, process streamlining, and overall supervision of movement of artworks.
- Communication with artists, framers, restorers, production teams, exhibition designers, finance teams, and client offices.
5. Administrative & Post-Sales
- Preparation of artist ledgers.
- Coordination with client offices for payments and shipments.
- Logistics, shipment, and packing supervision with the support of logistics team members.
- Other administrative functions of the gallery.
6. Gallery Representation
- Acting as the primary point of contact for curatorial, internal, external, client, and partner communications.
7. Digital Support
- Updating the website and social media when required and coordinating with stakeholders working on these aspects.
