OVERVIEW

The Inlaks Scholarship is offered by the Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation, India. The scholarship supports outstanding young Indian graduates to pursue postgraduate study (Master’s, MPhil, or Doctoral programmes) at leading universities and institutions in the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States.

The programme aims to support individuals at a crucial stage of their development by enabling international study that expands professional skills, intellectual growth, and long-term social impact.

Course Duration Supported: 9 months to 4 years.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Must be an Indian passport holder residing in India at the time of application.
• Must be born on or after 1 January 1996 (for the 2026 cycle).
• Must hold a degree from a recognised Indian university (final-year students may apply).
• Applicants with an undergraduate degree abroad must have lived/worked/studied in India for at least two years afterward.
• Must already have admission (conditional or unconditional) to the chosen overseas institution at the time of application.
• Minimum Academic Requirements
• Humanities, Social Sciences, Fine Arts, Architecture, Law: 65% / CGPA 6.8 / GPA 2.6 minimum.
• Sciences & related fields: 70% / CGPA 7.2 / GPA 3.0 minimum.
• Not Eligible
• Applicants already pursuing postgraduate study abroad.
• Applicants holding a postgraduate degree from abroad.
• Certain fields including MBA, Business & Finance, Computer Science, most Engineering, Fashion Design, Medicine, etc. (with limited exceptions).

APPLICATION PROCESS

• Applications are submitted through the online Inlaks application portal when the call opens.
• Applicants must already hold an admission offer before applying.
• Typical application components include:
• Academic and professional history
• Statement of purpose (approx. 400 words)
• Description of achievements and current work
• References (submitted directly by referees)
• Supporting documents and admission proof
• Selection Process
• Application review (April 2026)
• Online preliminary interviews (May 2026)
• Final in-person interview in Mumbai (late May 2026)
• Applicants not contacted by 30 April 2026 should assume they were not shortlisted.

BENEFITS

The scholarship provides funding up to USD 120,000, depending on the course.

Funding may include:

• Tuition fees
• Living expenses
• One-way travel allowance
• Visa costs
• Health allowance
• If course costs exceed the funding cap, applicants must demonstrate additional financial support.
