Open Call

The Story Pitch Room | Mumbai | Call for Writers

Deadline: 01/12/2025

OVERVIEW

The Story Pitch Room is a collaborative platform between Bound and the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival that invites emerging fiction writers from across India to pitch story ideas for possible development, exposure and liaison with publishing/media networks.
The session will take place during KGAF 2026 (scheduled from 31 January to 8 February 2026 in Mumbai). This is both a pitching opportunity and a developmental forum, meant to spotlight new voices, encourage literary projects and connect writers with the festival environment and possibly publishing or media partners.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Open to fiction writers (emerging and possibly mid‑career) from India.
  • The writer should have a project/pitch idea (not necessarily a fully completed story) that can be presented in a concise form.
  • Your work should align with a literary context (fiction) and likely fit the festival / cultural setting of KGAF.
  • Since the event is in Mumbai and part of KGAF, participants should be able to engage with the scheduled dates (31 Jan‑8 Feb 2026) or at least the pitch session during that time.

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Writers will be invited to submit a pitch idea for the story. The specific submission form or portal is not fully detailed in the publicly summarised posts.
  • Keep your summary clear: a compelling log‑line, short synopsis (maybe 250‑500 words), why your idea stands out, how you’d like it developed or what you bring to it.
  • Once selected, you’ll attend the pitch session at KGAF 2026 — likely in Mumbai — where you present your idea to an audience/judging panel (or media/publishing scouts) and receive feedback or development opportunities.
  • Registration likely via Bound + KGAF partnership link.
