Lalit Kala Akademi | Open Call for 3rd Print Biennale India 2025-2026

Lalit Kala Akademi is inviting submissions for the third edition of the Print Biennale in India for 2025-2026.

VENUE (FOR EXHIBITION): Lalit Kala Akademi, Regional Centre, Kolkata, 85 A.J.C. Bose Road, Kolkata – 700014, India

CATEGORIES OF PARTICIPATION

The Biennale exhibition will have two categories:
1. International Participants
2. Indian Participants

Both Indian and foreign artists are eligible to apply. Entries will undergo a two-tier selection process by an International Jury, which will evaluate and determine both the works for the exhibition and the award-winning entries.

ENTRY FEE
1. International artists: $50 USD
2. Artists from SAARC & ASEAN countries: INR 1500/-
3. Indian artists: INR 1000/-

RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR PARTICIPATION
1. Participation is open to all professional artists.
2. Minimum age for participation is 25 years (on 01.01.2025).
3. Each artist may submit a maximum of three (3) original prints.
4. Submitted works must be created after 2022 and must not have received awards in any previous exhibitions (national or international).
5. All printmaking techniques (traditional, contemporary, or mixed-media) are accepted.
6. Size Restrictions:
Minimum: 30 cm x 30 cm
Maximum: 122 cm x 152 cm
Maximum depth: 5 cm
Works submitted as a set must not exceed the given size limit.
7. All prints must be unmounted and securely rolled in a strong mailing tube (cardboard or PVC).
8. The mailing tube must be labeled: “PRINTED MATERIAL ONLY – NO COMMERCIAL VALUE”.
9. Each submitted work must have handwritten identification details in pencil (capital letters) on the back, including the artist’s name, title of the work, and other relevant information.
10. Application along with the original print/ artwork has to be submitted to the, Secretary Lalit Kala Akademi, 35, Ferozeshah Road, Rabindra Bhavan,
New Delhi-110001.
11. Incomplete applications, late submissions, ineligible works, or entries failing to meet submission procedures will not be accepted.
12. In case of any disputes, the decision of Lalit Kala Akademi will be final and binding on all participants.
13. The Biennale may be extended to other cities in India as part of its exhibition program.

JURY PROCESS
A two-tier International Jury will oversee the selection and awarding of artworks:
1. First-tier jury will shortlist original prints for the exhibition.
2. Second-tier jury will select award-winning works and honourable mentions.
3. The jury’s decision is final and cannot be contested.

AWARDS
FIVE GRAND PRIZES of 32,00,000/- (Rupees Two Lakh only) each will be awarded by Lalit Kala Akademi.
The jury may also announce Honourable Mentions at their discretion.
Award winners and Honourable Mentions will be invited to receive their awards at the inaugural function.
