PART International Art Residency Austria | CURATOR IN RESIDENCE 2026 | Vienna | Call for Applications

PART offers a unique opportunity for one curator to deepen their practice through a research residency (February 4 – March 31, 2026), culminating in a group exhibition in June 2026 at The Hall, featuring Artists-in-Residence alongside Austria-based artists. PART supports rigorous research, interdisciplinary exchange, and active engagement with contemporary discourse, with a particular focus on Austria’s artistic landscape.

PART International Art Residency Austria is situated in the historic Southern Pavilion of the Praterateliers in Vienna—originally built for the 1873 World’s Fair and set within a unique alluvial forest. It offers deep engagement with materials, communities, and nature in a space for artistic inquiry, interdisciplinary dialogue, and bold experimentation. PART hosts and supports up to six international residents at any given time and is a program by the Austrian Federal Ministry for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media and Sport (BMWKMS).

Eligibility Criteria:

Curators working in contemporary art and related fields, at various stages of their practice, who demonstrate a strong sensibility for space and the ability to develop and realize compelling spatial exhibition concepts within THE HALL. We welcome applications from people of all genders, ages, cultural backgrounds, religions, and sexual identities. We also warmly encourage 55+ curators to apply.

– Biography (including contact details such as website and social media, address, mail, phone number, birth date, nationality, currently based in)
– Portfolio (showcasing your curatorial practice, incl. images and text)
– Exhibition idea and curatorial statement for THE HALL (max. 5 pages incl. mood board)

 

Important Dates:

The application deadline for applications is December 23, 2025 at 5 pm GMT.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome by January 15, 2026.

 

Selection Process:

Participants will be selected by a jury composed of representatives of PART International Art Residency Austria, Vanessa Joan Müller (curator, art historian), and Lorena Juan (current curator-in-residence at PART).
