OVERVIEW

The Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten Residency is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and is one of the most prestigious international residency programmes for visual artists.

Duration: Two-year, full-time residency
Residency Period: January 2027 – December 2028

Focus: The programme supports artists in the development of their practice through intensive research, experimentation, critical dialogue, and production within a highly international, interdisciplinary environment.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  • Open to artists from all nationalities, including South Asian applicants
  • Applicants must have completed formal art education or have equivalent professional experience
  • Typically suited to artists who have been active for several years and are at a post-graduate or early-to-mid career stage
  • Artists must be able to commit to the full two-year residency in Amsterdam

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applications are submitted online via the Rijksakademie website

Application window: 1 January – 1 February 2026

Required materials include:

  • Artist CV
  • Artist statement
  • Portfolio / work documentation
  • Motivation for applying

Applications are reviewed by an international selection committee
