Camp Nomad
Serai Residency
Deadline: 05/09/2024
The Serai Retreat and Residency seeks to offer this mix of rest, companionship, and nurture to artists, writers, educators, community workers and peace-builders from across the Global South.
Selection Process
A three-week residency will be offered to four individuals, including artists, writers, educators, community workers, and peacebuilders. Applicants will be required to submit samples of their previous work, details of the projects they plan to undertake during the residency, and a statement explaining the significance of this opportunity at this point in their personal and professional lives.
Finalists will be chosen through an open application process, with selections made by a panel of professionals from relevant fields. The program’s outreach will specifically target the Global South, addressing the imbalance in residency and arts funding, which predominantly favors Western Europe and North America. This initiative aims to foster a rich South-South dialogue, emphasizing collaboration and world-building among postcolonial countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and seeks to shift focus from a Euro-centric perspective to a more genuinely global outlook.
