FICA, in collaboration with Royal Enfield, is pleased to present the second edition of The Himalayan Fellowship for Creative Practitioners.

Open to individuals and collectives located in the Western and Eastern Himalayan regions in India, the Fellowship invites applications at the intersection of ecology and cultural knowledge from projects across diverse artistic mediums: from paintings, sculptures, video works and photobooks to experimental online archives, from public art installations, site-specific and traveling exhibitions to performative interventions, from forays into alternative pedagogies and interactive design projects to socially engaged practices, to list a few.

The year-long fellowship will support the development of selected projects with a grant amount of up to 3 Lakh each, and a structured programme, entailing components of mentorship and interactive sessions with resource persons, workshops and an exhibition platform.

We aim to extend support to creative practitioners from across 13 Indian States/Union Territories (namely Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Assam and parts of West Bengal ) responding to cultural and ecological emergencies. We aim to prioritize ecologically grounded practices; critical methodologies that promote long-term collaborations with people and landscapes; and site-specific and community-oriented collaborations with strong creative and pedagogic outcomes that can be further activated and disseminated.

We had the pleasure of supporting a cohort of 10 fellows for the first edition of the Fellowship, who provided invaluable insights and outcomes, whose works we will be exhibiting at Royal Enfield’s “Journeying Across the Himalayas” festival at Travancore House, Delhi from the 6th to the 15th of December
