Carpenters presents Arboretum, the first solo exhibition by New Delhi-based artist duo Thukral & Tagra at the gallery. Bringing together paintings and brass sculptures, the exhibition explores trees as sites of memory, history, mythology and knowledge, drawing from the artists’ encounters with sacred trees and their own histories of migration and farming in Punjab. Inspired by a 5,000-year-old tamarind tree at the Adinatha Perumal Temple in Tamil Nadu, the works combine detailed imagery with handcrafted and industrial processes to create a symbolic arboretum where nature, belief and memory come together.
