Galerie des Gobelins presents the exhibition: Ce qui se trame. Histoires tissées entre l’Inde et la France. The exhibition reveals how, for centuries, the threads of Indian and French cultures have intersected, influenced and inspired each other, right up to today’s artists and craftsmen, through the prism of textiles. Sumptuous fabrics, shaped and embroidered by hand, bear witness to know-how passed down from generation to generation. These works, running counter to the all-digital trend, celebrate the beauty of the craft, the material, and time. From 17th-century Mughal tents to haute couture shows in 2025, each piece tells a story of exchange, encounters, and innovation. Through diverse techniques, they reveal the vitality of Indian and French artisanal traditions, capable of transforming the heritage of the past into a constantly evolving source of inspiration.
