Rumble in the jungle - Muzammil Hussain

Muzammil Hussain’s paintings transport viewers into a vivid, parallel universe where animals adopt human roles and navigate everyday yet surreal situations. Using bold, fauvist-inspired colors and dynamic compositions, his work balances playfulness with depth, creating scenes that are visually engaging without being merely humorous.
In the series, human–animal hybrids emerge from autobiographical reflections shaped by desire, humor, irony, and longing. Animals are shown engaging with sport, fashion, or technology—such as a cat wearing a Palestinian kufiya amid hovering drones—inviting viewers to explore the layered narratives and symbolic possibilities embedded in each figure.
Through intuitive use of color, form, and compositional rhythm, Hussain’s work celebrates exploration, experimentation, and the tension between intention and chance. His paintings are both playful and profound, offering a world where imagination, emotion, and reflection coexist.
