Akara Art presents a group show Follow/Unfollow, featuring legendary Indian modernists Prabhakar Barwe, Manjit Bawa, Sakti Burman, Jogen Chowdhury, Zarina Hashmi, Bhupen Khakhar, Nalini Malani, Anjolie Ela Menon, Nasreen Mohamedi, Gieve Patel, Sudhir Patwardhan, B Prabha, Ganesh Pyne, Gulam M. Sheikh, Nilima Sheikh, Laxman Shreshtha, Paramjit Singh, and Vivan Sundaram. Each of the artists in the show have pioneered innovative forms of figuration in their own individualistic styles. Apart from experimenting with different drawing styles, they also broadened and deepened the painterly exploration of social locations and individual emotional states. This show puts special focus on the phenomenal women artists who brought a fresh perspective to the canvas.
This show is part of Art Night Thursday taking place in Mumbai on the 8th of September.
