ANUPA MEHTA CONTEMPORARY ART GROUND FLOOR, ROYAL TERRACE 58 WODEHOUSE ROAD COLABA MUMBAI

GARDEN OF MEMORY, by Chennai based artist Alamu Kumaresan, curated by Goa Based curator Lina Vincent, opens during Mumbai Gallery Weekend. The curatorial lens explores the complexity of feminine selfhood as represented in works that use a combination of the visual and tactile as means of making; the artist incorporates her mother and grandmother’s work with hers. The thematic emphasis is on reconstructed memory as seen in the everyday. The curatorial vision brings together literal and metaphorical threads that bind humans to selfhood, place, belonging and collective memory. The artist’s debut solo exhibition, which opened at Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum in 2024, was curated by Tasneem Mehta and her work is in several important Indian collections including KNMA, India.
