Shrine Empire is pleased to present I have so much poetry inside me, but it is in the wrong language, a solo exhibition curated by Srinivas Aditya Mopidevi featuring works by Chris Basumatary.
Basumatary’s practice is inspired by the ideas of corporeality and nature. Through the surfaces of flesh, water, and stone his work presents a glimpse of his memories, desires, and fears. By repurposing the materials of cement, concrete, and paint, the artist recalls how the textures of water and flesh intrigued him as a child.
