Indian Masters: A Visionary Foundation

January 31-March 3, 2026

Antarang Art Gallery, The Camellias, Tower 8, Promenade Area, DLF Golf Links, Sector 42, Gurugram, India

Antarang Art Gallery presents Indian Masters: A Visionary Foundation. In an age of speed, endless images, and instant gratification, we return, again and again, to the modern masters. To stand before them is to enter a space where history, memory, and artistic magnificence converge. Indian modern art emerged in the decades surrounding independence. As the new nation sought its tryst with destiny, her artists broke old conventions to reimagine and transform the possibilities of visual art. The modern Indian artist engaged deeply with the realities of nationhood, colonial legacy, urban transformation, and social change. In their bold strokes and elegant compositions, we witness a deep, poetic engagement with the world. These works, painted, drawn, or sculpted decades ago, continue to resonate across time and remind us of the great experimentations, restless curiosity, and aspirations of their makers. Alongside these modern works, the exhibition presents contemporary practices that carry modernist legacies forward.
